About Trek Up Kilimanjaro

Climb Kilimanjaro. With People Who Know It.

About Trek Up Kilimanjaro

At Trek Up Kilimanjaro, we believe climbing Africa's highest mountain is more than reaching a summit. It is a journey of preparation, determination, connection and discovery.

Based in Tanzania, we specialize in Mount Kilimanjaro trekking, creating carefully planned mountain experiences for travelers from around the world who want to experience the Roof of Africa with a professional and locally experienced team.

From your first enquiry to the moment you stand at Uhuru Peak — 5,895 metres above sea level — our role is to make your journey safe, well organized and unforgettable.

Kilimanjaro is our mountain

Our story

Trek Up Kilimanjaro was created with a simple purpose: to help travelers experience Kilimanjaro the right way.

Kilimanjaro is our mountain, and Tanzania is our home. We understand that every trekker arrives with a different goal. For some, it is a lifelong dream. For others, it is a personal challenge, an adventure with friends or an opportunity to experience one of the world's most remarkable natural landscapes.

We believe every successful climb begins long before the first step on the trail.

It begins with choosing the right route, preparing properly, allowing enough time for acclimatization, having the right equipment and being supported by a professional mountain crew.

That is why we focus on creating trekking experiences that combine local knowledge, careful planning, experienced guides and genuine hospitality.

How we work

Why Trek Up Kilimanjaro?

Local mountain expertise

Kilimanjaro is not simply a destination for us. It is a mountain we know and work on.

Our local knowledge helps us plan each trek around the route, weather, altitude, terrain and individual needs of our guests.

From the rainforest to the alpine desert and finally the summit zone, our team understands that every stage of the mountain requires patience, preparation and good decision-making.

Safety comes first

Reaching Uhuru Peak is important. Returning safely is more important.

Our trekking philosophy places safety and responsible decision-making at the centre of every expedition.

Our mountain team monitors trekkers throughout the journey and follows an acclimatization-focused approach designed to give the body time to adapt to increasing altitude.

We believe there should never be pressure to continue when a trekker's health or safety is at risk.

The right route for you

Kilimanjaro offers different routes, each with its own character.

Whether you are considering the scenic Lemosho Route, the classic Machame Route, the hut-based Marangu Route, the quieter Rongai Route, the longer Northern Circuit or the challenging Umbwe Route, our team can help you choose an itinerary that matches your time, experience, fitness and expectations.

We don't believe there is one perfect route for everyone.

There is the right route for you.

Guides, assistant guides, cooks and porters

Our mountain team

Behind every successful Kilimanjaro expedition is a team of people working together.

Our guides, assistant guides, cooks and porters are an essential part of the Trek Up experience.

Our guides do more than lead the way. They help trekkers understand the mountain, manage the pace, monitor acclimatization and make informed decisions throughout the journey.

Our porters make mountain life possible—from carrying equipment and setting up camps to preparing the environment that allows trekkers to focus on the climb.

We are committed to treating our mountain crew with professionalism, dignity and respect.

Responsible trekking

We believe that climbing Kilimanjaro should benefit not only our guests, but also the people and environment that make the experience possible.

Our approach to responsible trekking focuses on:

  • Respect for the mountain environment
  • Responsible waste management
  • Respectful treatment of our mountain crew
  • Supporting local employment
  • Working with local guides and service providers
  • Encouraging responsible behavior from trekkers
  • Protecting the natural beauty of Kilimanjaro for future generations

We don't just climb the mountain. We have a responsibility to protect it.

How we approach the mountain environment

Before you arrive

Your journey starts before the mountain

Your Trek Up experience begins the moment you contact us.

Before your climb, our team helps you understand:

  1. 01 Which Kilimanjaro route is right for you
  2. 02 How many days you should spend on the mountain
  3. 03 What equipment you need
  4. 04 How to prepare physically
  5. 05 What to expect from altitude
  6. 06 What happens during summit night
  7. 07 What you should expect from your mountain crew
  8. 08 How to prepare for your arrival in Tanzania

Once you arrive, we can assist with airport transfers, accommodation, pre-trek briefing and equipment preparation before you begin your climb.

Start planning your climb

More than a summit

For us, Kilimanjaro is not simply about the photograph at Uhuru Peak.

  • It is the first morning when you enter the rainforest.
  • It is the conversations around camp.
  • It is watching the landscape change as you climb higher.
  • It is encouraging the person walking beside you.
  • It is the sunrise above the clouds.
  • It is the moment you realize how far you have come.
  • And finally, it is standing at 5,895 metres, looking across Tanzania and knowing that you made it.

That is the Trek Up experience.
